The most compelling crime stories are already out there – buried in police reports, old newspapers and forgotten case files. This workshop shows participants how to work with Singapore’s rich archival resources to extract character, motive, conflict and emotional stakes. Through guided exercises, they will reframe crimes across time periods and shape an original story premise by the session’s end. Built on a method previously developed by the Singapore Book Council Academy and the National Archives, this workshop transforms overlooked records into the foundation for powerful crime fiction.
